Episode 10

At his home, Nath was changing his clothes when Rita came knocking. Nath opened the door and what he got from Rita was a fat hug. “I’m sorry for everything. Please forgive me.” Rita said while she held him tight.

After few seconds of silence, “sorry na or what’s doing you sef? She said. I know i messed up real bad but forgive your girl now, I’m back and better” she said all these whilst being pushed away slightly by Nath.

Nath couldn’t hold on to his anger any longer as a faint smile dropped from his face then he chuckled until he finally laughed out loud. Afterwards, he started blushing and couldn’t look at Rita’s face. When he finally got the nerve to speak he said "big head, I’ve forgiven you a bit, but to complete this, let’s rush down to Pam's place because he needs us right now” he held her right hand as they rushed out of the room.

Various kinds of footwear with different sizes and colours covered the entrance, with the doormat nearly out of sight. The door was opened at a ninety degree angle which allowed the ray of light go few miles into the living room. Just like the entrance, the sitting room was also filled with different people. A bowed head sat on the floor close to the entrance grumbling while few others were seated in the cushion chairs in different styles everyone looking sad, and seeing through their eyes, you wouldn't need to check twice before knowing that they'd given out lots of tears. The sitting room was so silent that you would only hear a sound when anyone changes position or when one of them suddenly bursts into tears with words like “Mom! Mom! Mom! Please where are you? Don’t leave us this way in this world,
I want to be with you wherever you are now” Others come close to console him/her, only for them to join in the weeping.

“I promised you that I'd take good care of you mom and make you proud with how much you’ve tried to take care of us after that man left us for another woman without looking back to check on his children- he’s not even my father! Mom! How can you leave now after years of witnessing my search for admission, and when you’re supposed to sit, relax and watch your son grow to be a graduate you then surrender to death? God, why?” these thoughts kept replaying in Pam’s mind as he sat secluded behind the longest chair and since he wasn’t talking, he couldn’t hold it in anymore. He hits the wall close to him severally “God why? Why me?” he bursts into tears and wanted to leave the sitting-room but his elder sister drew him back and they wept more .

Nath and Rita came around and heard the sounds coming from inside. At first they stood few meters away from the door eavesdropping and were at loss for the right words to say when they go in. Few minutes later, they walked slowly to the entrance and greeted but didn't get any response. Nath walked straight towards Pam and Rita followed. “Tell me it’s not true Pam. No! No! God why?” he slumped and hit his head on the wall. Rita helped him sit beside Pam and hears them cry while she consoles them.   Three of them remained together for about two days before Rita left for school and came back on the day of the final burial. Two days after the burial they all left for school.

Getting to school was like a new beginning to them as they got closer. Rita stayed more at their house and most times slept over. She does the chores and cooked the meals they ate, at the same time encouraging them to cheer up- this new beginning fostered openness amongst the three friends.
           
One night, few months after the burial, Pam suddenly kept quiet and secluded himself from his friends, he was obviously in deep thoughts. Nath and Rita moved close to him after getting the food prepared and bidding him to eat but he told them he wasn’t eating. Just like most people will say, he said he was fine when asked what was wrong . After much pestering, he broke into tears and as weird as it may seem, Rita joined Pam crying too and when it was as if Nath wouldn't join in, he started slowly and cried louder.

“Guys, i can’t just stop thinking about mom because of how much she suffered for us. There were times she'd not eat just for us to be satisfied which is part of what contributed to her illness. It started with ulcer and look at what it resulted into. I just pray not to ever meet that man that calls himself my father or if i meet him, i shouldn’t recognize him, else, what I’ll do to him, I wouldn't mind going to jail.” He cried the more. Rita moved closer and placed his head on her shoulder for a while. “Rita! That man left five children for a girlfriend and didn’t even look back. Which reasonable father on earth does that?”

“See, i understand your pain Pam some people are just not responsible and do not deserve to live. They shouldn’t be given the 'Father' title but 'Devil'. Imagine my own dad. He calls himself my dad and...” she moved from crying to weeping and was already at the highest stage of weeping. “Even if he becomes the world richest man, i can never forgive him. How can someone that calls himself my father find it easy and pleasurable to...” she paused and continued sobbing

So he called her but she wasn't answering his calls, he sent her a message stating the urgency of the situation, she then picked but didn’t give him the attention he wanted and that got Pam annoyed.

“What is wrong with you Rita? How can you make conclusions without asking us what happened? You’re making us regret all we did for you that day. Fine, you should be angry with us and we know we’re faulty in some areas, but have you tried to hear our part of the story? No,and you just came to your own conclusions. Now, I’m calling you and you are reacting without knowing why I’m calling. Do you think Nath and I are happy with all that happened, that got  myself and him into a fight we haven’t settled? Or you think any of us thought of calling you if not because of the tragedy that befell  my mom?..Pam said all these angrily and narrated what happened to her. “I took you as a friend and i wanted you to assist me with anything little to get to my mom who’s in coma but i think i made a mistake. Take care” He didn’t wait to hear her response before he dropped the call and got to Nina-the lady he came to visit. He told her the situation of things and she didn’t just give him money, she also followed him.         

Nina took the situation to heart for the whole day, and helped out with errands until she left that night. But on that same night, Pam’s mom gave up the ghost.

When Nina heard, she almost cried her eyes out. She went back the next day to meet Pam and consoled him. She took care of him as if they were very close friends until about one day after when Nath heard. He came around to help Nina out.

Still on same day, Rita called Nina to get feedback on the progress with their contract but she didn’t pick up because she didn’t know what to tell her. Rita called severally and when she still didn’t pick up, she sent her a message asking her to end the job if she could, it was just like she could read what Nina had in mind, she almost agreed immediately but out of curiosity she asked why she wanted her to end it.

“Nina, i think I’m the one to blame for my blind and hasty coming to conclusion without knowing the real facts and instead of thanking them for the help, i made them regret helping me. Nina please kindly stop and I’ll still give you your balance” Rita explained.

Nina didn’t react much, rather she told Rita about what happened to Pam. Rita was shocked at the news of what happened to Pam. “Right now, I’m in his house trying to console him Rita, he is at his worse and there's really little I can do. I just don't know how to calm him down. If there's any of his very close friends, kindly tell them to show up for him because that’s what he needs right now.”

Rita broke into tears and remembered the day he called her but she didn’t give him attention. She tried calling Nath to apologize first, before telling him about Pam, but just after dialling his number, she thought of not using her number because she was sure he wouldn't answer. So she used someone else’s phone and just after dialling it a second time, she heard “hello! good evening and who am i speaking with please?”

Rita talked after she sighed and  said “Nath! I'm so sorry, I’m the foolish one here for jumping into conclusions without asking what happened. I made you look stupid and I’m really sorry about that. I was not just happy about what happened to me especially when i thought I had two friends with me but i didn’t know how much you guys tried to help me out of that mess and i couldn't bring myself to ask but jumped into my own conclusion. Please forgive me if not for anything, at least for the fact that we need to go to Pam's house right now because i just heard that his mom passed on and he’s in a terrible state. He needs us right now”

“You must be joking! No! God forbid!” His eyes widened like he wanted to pluck it out and he closed it again without saying anything giving way for tears to find their way through his closed eyes. He was mumbling No! No! No! then suddenly he shouted “Noooooo! God why?” Rita’s ear almost expanded, but all she kept saying was “oh!”

Ok i’m coming home now to change my cloth so we can go together. But i thought she was responding to treatment. Why death? Rita please start coming to my house so that we can go as soon as possible.

He dropped the call. His legs weren’t stable on the ground. Different thoughts kept running through his head towards every direction, and then finally, his hands stopped  their movement but the tears won't stop flowing . “No wonder i didn’t see him for a while and i didn’t even bother calling him even when i missed his calls because of our misunderstanding. How stupid am I to transfer the aggression and anger from Rita to Pam” he cried the more as he walked home,.....

Fear of Acceptance For A Relationship/Marriage

Will this man accept me, if he knows that I'm this? Will this lady accept me if she knows that I'm this? This is the song of some people, and has caused a lot of fear in their heart.  

Sometimes it is a past bad history, sometimes it is the background, sometimes it is the health, and sometimes it is a physical feature of the body. 

A sister once share with me that her breast has dropped as a young girl. She is still  a virgin,  but naturally as her breast starts developing it is sagging like women's that has been used for breast feeding a baby.  What can  she do?  Her heart was filled with fear. Who will accept her? was the thought of her heart. She was so worried!

A lot of people have one thing or the other that has kept them full of fear of the future about their marital life, most especially if it's a situation that one cannot change. 

From birth my eyes colour was brownish,  and as I grew up I didn't like it,  I wished my eyeballs were white. I was so conscious of it. Not only that, I have a bold voice and when I talk my voice is bolder than an average lady.  I didn't even take note of this until people use to pass that comment. So many people have one thing or the other they don't like about them selves.  

But as I grew up, most especially in faith.  I lost those feelings. I love everything about me.  God created people with beauties. What someone lack is in another, what you have, is missing in another person. There is no perfect human. 

Whatever condition you find yourself, you must accept your self and love yourself first. And if is a past occurrence that has caused a negative situation to your life,  you must first forgive yourself if it was caused by your carelessness. You  have to move on in life so you have to forgive yourself so far God has forgiven you. 

One of the great sign you will know that a person is your marriage partner is acceptance. 

There is someone God has given grace to marry you. Someone that will accept you the way you are. Whatever condition or situation, there will be grace for acceptance. That is why it is wrong for you to hide your situation for someone that wants to marry you. If he or she is really yours, there will be full acceptance. 

A lot of people make mistake of disguising to be  another thing and when their partner discover many things in marriage, the marriage will turn sour. Don't hide anything from someone that wants to marry you. 

I have seen crippled, blind,  deaf and dumb marrying complete people of no ailments. And I have also seen complete people without any ailments stayed without marriage partner till old age.  It is not one condition or physical looks or body feature that keeps people away from marriage.  But inability to meet their grace partners. Sometimes, this is not ordinary.

I came from a polygamous family, not only that,  my parents were separated when I met hubby.  I asked him if he will be ready to fight with me and win. I shared my situations with him. And he did fought with me and we won. 

God has a purpose for you!  Not every man is prepared for you. Not every woman is prepared for you. Your own man will accept you the way you are. Your own woman will accept you the way you are. If you are a child of God, you have a future in the hand of God. He says:

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Jeremiah:29:11

All you need to do is to trust him! 

God will settle you this year in the mighty name of Jesus!

Episode 8

Rita was happy with the plans and begged her to make sure it becomes real. Few minutes after she dropped the call, another call came in from an unknown caller. “Hello! Am i speaking with Rita?” the voice asked. “Yes sir. Who am i speaking with? And I hope no problem?” Rita being curious answered.
“I’m the general secretary to the student union government. First of all, we are sorry about what happened to you during the matriculation party and we want to tell you that we are on it and we are going to bring to justice those that did that to you.

Rita told them not to worry about what happened to her that she’s fine and had let go of it. “I’m fine now and wouldn’t want to be involved in anything that will remind me or dig up that issue again. Please can we forget about it and let God judge whosoever did it by himself "

Rita was still asked to come to the students' union office very early the next day, which she did and when she got there, she met Nath and Pam on the seat and that got her upset. Even when both friends tried to greet her or talk to her, she acted dumb and didn’t even say a word neither did she look at their   direction and that got Nath angry and  he started talking “What’s even wrong with you and why are you acting this way to us without hearing us out. What is it you’re angry about that you can’t even hear us out - the ones you call your friends!” he hissed and changed his sitting positing.


“Friends my foot! Don’t ever call me your friends again. Just go your way, let me go my way please. I don’t want to have anything to do with whosoever that took advantage of me in my  unconsciousness. Just imagine! How can you make me sleep naked in your room with the door unlocked and the window opened? Who removed my clothes? Why will that person even do that? Why couldn't you take me to my hostel in the first place if not that you had ulterior motives in mind? Oh God! Why am i even talking? Imagine” she started crying “both of you allowed it to be obvious to the crowd before you got me away from that gathering that night and now, I've become a laughing stock amongst everyone. Do you know how hard it is for me to walk in school any time? See, no matter how you try, there is a stigma on me already and it cannot leave. When i needed you guys the most, you weren’t there. You even took advantage of me. Who knows if you molested me?” she said all of this and wanted to walk out before the SUG president called her back.

Nath left the place with annoyance after persuading Pam to join him which he didn’t. He was so angry to the point that he insulted Pam for staying back and that almost led to a fight between them. Pam also left when he couldn’t stop getting angry. Rita was left with the president and some other executives until the organizers of the event arrived and the discussion began.               

  Rita was silent throughout the discussion and while looking at the organizers, it was as if she should get a gun and shoot them but she listened to them as they told her of how they knew nothing of what was added in the drink and can't point at those that did it. They also acknowledged their fault for broadcasting pictures and videos of the event and finally begged Rita. They promised to pull down the contents from their social handles and also promised to pay for any damages and also happily serve any punishment meted out.   

Rita couldn’t even alter a word when I they were done talking. All she did was agree with what the SUG president said. She just wanted to leave the environment and stop having to relive the past. In her heart, she was still on with her payback plans. As soon as the SUG president concluded his talk, Rita thanked him quickly and left the building for her house.

Pam dressed up to go teach his new friend at her house. He put on a short and a jersey complemented by a cap. He didn’t have transport fare but he had to borrow from someone and set out to go while calling her at intervals to locate her hostel. She was set, putting on a bumper short with a transparent top without a bra exposing her cleavages. She called Rita to give her update on her progress with the plan and to confirm if the contract was still intact.       

Pam was on bike when he received a call from a strange number and he picked but he couldn’t hear. So he promised to call back when he alights from the bike which he did - though he almost forgot, but after getting the exact location he was heading to, he remembered and dialed the number immediately.

The called ended and Pam remained paralyzed on the spot. His mom who has been responding to treatment before suddenly ended up in coma and he was asked to come around. He didn’t know what to do and also, he didn’t have transport fare too. He tried calling Nath but his phone was switched off, he then thought of who else to call and it was only Rita that was coming to mind.  So he called her but she didn’t pick up, so he sent her a message telling her to pick up his call, she did but...
