The voice of blood
Episode 15
"Hello Ademi! How are you doing baby? I know it has been going fine over there though it is kind of stressful so as is it for me here too, but the joy is that our purpose for doing this keeps me going and i know that's the fuel for you too. Most of all, i am so happy that we've been able to achieve our proposed target because i just checked the savings and i saw it'd be enough to get you across to me here and to also get you an apartment too. So Ademi, i am calling you to bring your notice to this so that you can start making arrangements to come around. You know it's not that easy to get a Visa there. What are your plans Ademi?" Carolina opened the floor of their conversation with this. It was like Ademi should be with her immediately. You could feel the enthusiasm in her voice.
Ademi was left in a state that can't be explained. The love for his job versus the love for Caro plus their commitment. 'Hope i will not be selfish to go my own way? What if she get's mad at me?' He was just scared of what his decision could lead to. While he was talking, you could sense the fear of the unknown. "Caro, i thought of something that i will like to tell you. It's just my idea and if you are not ok with it, let me know. It's not like i wanted it by force, your decision is final. Is ...'
Carolina was tensed hearing all these introduction before the words. She was scared of what this might be. 'What will make this guy be stammering like this and beating around the bush like this?' she thought in her mind. "Ademi, go straight to your point. You said it's my final decision to make and so it's not a problem just go on with it please'
"I... I was thinking if i can work for another six months to make one year. You know it's a new department and it's not yet ready for a new boss in that position. I will use this six months to groom someone i know is capable of taking this position from me. That's what I was thinking. What do you have to say?' Ademi finally spilled it out
Carolina laughed out loud immediately Ademi was done talking and went silent for some seconds before she finally began to talk:
"Hmmmm.. Hmmm... Ademi! Is this what you want to say that's making you behave like a coward? It's not a problem for me. It's a good decision. In fact, t'wud make us contribute more but then, one year abstaining from your pintle is not easy o. Even this six months was like hell. It was as if i was caged. In fact, i have stopped watching Ghanian films and any other vidoes that can make me horny. I just hope on God to help me for the next six months.
Also, it means in that six months, you must have secured all the necessary things needed to come. So it means that the day you complete your one year, you get on board and land here that day. If you can do that, then we are good to go on that. Because even before, it can take almost six months to secure a Visa. So it means you will start all the processing as soon as possible "
Ademi jumped up for joy. He was so happy because he wasn't even expecting her to agree to his request. He promised to get all the processing ready on or before the one year target.
He began his search for traveling agents and the rest. He finally got one agent who told him everything he needed to get access into Belgium especially as a permanent resident. But there were lots of challenges.
At first, it was bank issues. He was required to have some huge amount as transaction in his account. And this must have been for a while.
It was not a big problem for him really because he thought of using his influence in the company to get that to happen. Since it wasn't that the money must be there permanently but must just be seen as a transaction. His plan was to do that with the company's money.
It was not long after he thought about this that Mr Emeka trust some amount with him. He was supposed to keep it safe until he-Mr Emeka-ask for it. So he quickly save it into his account. It was a huge amount of money.
Then after about two weeks, Mr Emeka demanded for the money and Ademi head to the bank immediately to cash it out. He was so happy about the help in disguise. But his happiness was soon turned around when he got to bank.
He was feeling himself when he got to bank especially when he presented his request. The bank attendant gave him more respect. They led him into the VIP's room. They even entertained him and gave him a lot of respect. This time, the manager took up his transaction himself. He left him in the luxury to get him his requested money.
Ademi sat on a cushion chair; resting his back and crossed his leg on the stool in front of him. His eyes were stuck to the plasma TV. He was enjoying the news especially the cool air coming from all corners of the room. The air-conditioner was blowing visible cool air complimented with the scent of the room- what a nice air freshner it is.
The manager came in with another kind of look like a boy that misplaced the money he was given to get something. "Excuse me sir, there is a problem right now? There is a problem with your account. Your account has been blocked..."
"What do you mean my account has been blocked? I used it few weeks ago. Why must it be blocked?" Ademi rage. He looked straight to managers eye to hear the rest of his story
"Sir, the last deposit you made caused it. Your account was restricted to some amount and your last deposit exceeded it." The manager explained
"Imagine! Look at you. Hear what you are saying. When i was depositing it, why didn't the cashier tell me that? What do you mean? (a short pause) So what do you want me to do?" By this time, his patience has been long gone. His boss has been calling him to hasten him up.
"We are very sorry sir for the inconvenience but then, there is a solution. We just need your ID card to upgrade your account and that's all. But it's not just any ID card but a statutory ID card to be precise. I mean either of Voters card, driver's license, Passport or national ID card only"
By this time, Ademi was already sweating profusely. He has misplaced all of those during his abduction. He was very annoyed with them at the bank. He argued and argued but it didn't yield any result. So he left for office.
He was already destabilised and was scared of what Mr Emeka will say.
Mr Emeka wanted that money for some goods he was expecting. It was a kind of paint ingredients that wasn't in the country and was very scarce to get. He has been lobbying for it for about four months and finally got a chance to have it. The most painful aspect of this story is that he was given a three day opportunity to pay for it.
'What will i tell my boss like this?'
Watch out for the next episode..
