What are friends for?

Episode 2

She scrolled downward and suddenly her phone switched off- the kind of phone that would have a 40% battery level and still go off .

She got more curious because she wasn't through checking the list. She had to get her charger and was looking for where to charge her phone until she finally saw a barber's shop and without thinking twice, she got in and begged them to allow her charge.

The guys in there were surprised to see her come beg to charge, after several times she had snubbed them anytime they try to call her. The guys gazed at one another for few seconds and said coincidentally that 'well she's a lady, let's leave her' even after they had made it a rule that phone charging won't be allowed in the shop again because of consistent stealing of phones.

She stood outside while her phone was charging and as usual, a guy was with her trying his luck to get close to her but she wasn't just giving him attention at all.

After about thirty minutes, she took her phone and couldn't wait till she got home before she checked the list again. She checked it three times and couldn't find her name. Tears almost dropped off her eyes 'after all my efforts meeting up to this foolish school cutoff mark, they still didn't give me admission this year again' she said this and followed it with a movement that look more like a march-past. The guy asked what was wrong with her and he wouldn't stop asking her until she flared up and transferred her anger at him.

She got home and was very sad that she was going to wait another year again. It was as if she should hit her IPhone on the wall at the moment but instead, a thought came that she should just do a general search for her name.

She got on the list again and input her full name on the search menu. As the search was going on, names suggestions were coming out and finally her full name came out. Surprised and anxious, checked again to confirm if it's her name and what department it was.

Thank God i gained admission. She shouted she jumped up; she was very happy though with fears of how a commercial student can cope in a quantity surveying course but her joys of admission over-shadowed the thought.

She got on the group chat to announce her victory and asked if there was anyone in Quantity Surveying. She couldn't contain her joy alone and so she started calling close friends to inform them about her success.

Nathan and Pamilerin replied to Rita's request and chatted her personally.

Unlike her, she quickly got along with these two friends. Coincidentally, these guys were very close friends from childhood but they didn’t know they were unto the same girl this time. Nathan and Pamilerin popularly called Pam and Nath- it was like they were Tom and Jerry as a result of their closeness but their communication reduced the moment Nath got admission two years before Pam finally did. Nath being a 300level student decided to put the aspirants including his friend through the admission process in their institution and so he was part of those that created that platform.

It was a good thing for Rita to have both of them as her new friend because of the advantages involved in having someone who has been there to put you through and also to have an immediate course mate who’s always up-to-date about what’s going on around their registration. Though she didn’t even know they were close friends not until her matriculation day. She didn’t just get to know they were close friends, she also became closer with them.

Nath and Pam were very surprised that it was the same girl they were crushing on and were always chatting about until this day. Anyways, the coincidence strengthened their friendship instead.

After the school finished their own matriculation few minutes past two o’clock in the afternoon, every of the students didn’t stay long before they left and in the mind of other students and school, they were the best set of matriculating student who didn’t wait until the securities starts to send them home not knowing that these set of students had plans for the night at a different location best known to them.

The time for this secret party was specifically ‘the moon’s time’ so it was a night party. That’s why they all left to prepare for this and in no time, the moon was coming out gradually, so as fresh students, all  looking so gorgeous especially the ladies in their short gowns exposing their cleavages and some of them almost got it exposed to their nipples, of which Rita was part.

The guys were looking smart on suits and most of them wearing the same brand of shoe. The open space was a multicoloured illuminated environment with music that will influence you to shake your head or your body unconsciously.

Everyone was looking innocent and cool while they settled down quietly and in no time got on their phones to take  selfies or chat and some others calls. Of course, there was no much chattering or gisting as everyone was new and were still forming big girls and boys.  Only the sharp guys amongst them that had caught a fish brought them along and since they were still new and curious to explore, they had some nice time that they thought was only possible in the American movies they do watch. What was this nice time?
