Letter to the celebrities
Don’t look too far thinking you are not one- Yes! Don’t conclude that you aren’t part of the celebrities. Why?
Few days ago, I stumbled on a trend on twitter where one Pastor Mrs precisely said that “we all are guilty of the wrongs in our country. All of us. No one is exempted.” While replying to the post I said “The word ‘guilty’ has over qualified the message you are trying to relay to us. What if you say ‘as long as you are a Nigerian, you are an inclusive factor to the state of the country’ either good or bad.”
Whether it is a light from a candle, torch, halogen lamps, sun or even from a wristband, light is light and its effect cannot be hidden. I believe you are a celebrity to your circle of influence.
Also, few days ago, Instagram released a list of worth of some of the users of their social media and what their cost for hosting a single ad is. ‘Davido’ who happened to be the first in Nigeria; second in Africa and 38th in the world, worths 36million naira to advertise for one brand- just once and that’s only on Instagram. I immediately checked his profile and realised he had 11.8million followers. That is the monetary value of the influence he alone has on Instagram.
Based on this fact and with what you too can see “do you think we still have morals in our society or we only have examples from celebrities while others follow? Don’t you think celebrities are the lifestyle of this generation- Maybe not to everyone but majority won’t be an exaggeration especially the innocent young lads and the ones unborn?
My point
Gone are those days where the focus is more on ‘enriched career and values’ over money.
Most of the times, you always paint pictures of yourself living an almost perfect life-flaunting the foreign currencies without showing the fact that you also worked hard for it.
The most deadly part is your philosophy that has eaten deep and gained a solid foundation in every youth. You choose to always say either in words or by action that “I just want to happily live my life; careless about anything or anyone” and that’s what everyone has been doing too- especially the fraudsters who are already dominating. Then we go on to blame only the government because they won’t stop stealing our money but we've failed to blame you too who is stealing our morals, shifting our focus to looking for ways to get money by all means- any means.
Now take a look at what you have turned the society into with your examples. How can you take over the only torch we have only for you to point it to your selfish direction?
Just one last question for you and I am done. “WHAT REALLY IS THE MESSAGE YOU HAVE BEEN PASSING AS A CELEBRITY?”

Thanks for the message, @Tumihub. The country would have been an infinitely better place if values are placed on the right things. We thank God integrity was recently honoured. We are getting there...
